Outline for the Second Term Paper

Action/Reaction Violations

Thesis: The law of action reaction is commonly violated by both having to much of an reaction and not any reaction at all.

First Media Example: Spongebob
                                       - Episode: The Bully
                                                 > Flats the Flounder beats up Spongebob by punching him, but his spongy  body absorbes the blows.
                                                 > The first scene where this happens shows Spongebob still having a reaction to the punches - Face popping out when punched in the back/ Parts of the body caving in when punched
                                                > After, there are scene where there is no reactions at all to the punches and Spongebob walks around as if nothing is happening

Second Media Example: Bioshock
                                           - Hitting bodies with a wrench
                                                    > When a body is on the ground, if it is hit by the player with a wrench it will move and react
                                                    > At times the body's reaction does not equal the force of the hit - the body moves much more than the reaction to the wrench would be
                                                    > Also, when the body is hanging as part of the environment, it will act like the environment when hit, not the other bodies - it will not move and only splurt out some blood

Third Media Example: South Park
                                         - Episode: The Red Badge of Gayness
                                            > Is about a civil war reinactment
                                            > When guns are shot, they do not recoil at all or not enough to match the power of the shot gun.

Conclusion: Action and reaction is violated in both ways of not being enough or being to much. Sometimes can be found both ways in one piece of work. Can be for both humor or to prove a point in some cartoons. Can be a glitch in a game since it does not always happen. Can just be a choice because of the type of animation.
